Who is this course suitable for?

This course is aimed at all employees in various positions at care homes, nursing homes and similar facilities.

Anybody at any level working within a care setting would benefit from this fire safety training which teaches workers the basic fire safety awareness for care homes that they need, as well as how to minimise fire risks and assist vulnerable residents in the event of a fire.

Those who have additional responsibilities such as fire risk assessments or evacuation procedures will need to complete fire marshal training in addition to this course.

Care homes and care-based facilities are considered to be one of the most high-risk premises as they contain sleeping residents as well as those who are older, vulnerable, unwell, have mental health problems or may have mobility, sight or hearing issues.

This can mean that not only is the risk of fire increased, but in the event that one does break out, evacuating everyone is much more complex than buildings where occupants can self-evacuate. Proper fire safety training is essential as it helps staff to act appropriately and help to support residents and assist them in safely evacuating the property.

  • Ensures compliance with the fire safety laws and legislation
  • The course can be taken online which makes it extremely convenient and requires no additional travelling, associated costs or time off site
  • It can be completed in around an hour
  • Helps employees to recognise potential fire hazards and reduce the risk of fire occurring
  • Teaches staff how to respond in the event of fire so they know exactly what to do
  • Instils a confidence in employees so they don’t panic if a fire were to break out
  • Creates a safe environment within the care home so that vulnerable residents get the best possible care and support in an emergency
